Well last night I went to bed with some tummy pains and when I looked down this morning I felt like I had added 10 inches to my waist line! I think it is safe to say, I'm certainly not getting any smaller! Along with this growing belly comes the morning complication of what to wear. I had problems with this before I was pregnant, so this just makes it even more difficult. The question I ask myself each morning is: wear it loud wear it proud or camouflage it while I still can...pretty soon, I wont have the two options. Other than the clothing dilemma, I have been feeling pretty good. Fighting off a sore throat but that has more to do with the slew of sickness going through my school, than it does about Baby Schieck.
We spent the weekend it PA which was nice to see and spend some time with family. I promise to get a picture up of the growing belly next week. This weekend was just too busy!

13 Weeks and the 3 Amigos
Today, my amazing team of co-workers, helped me share my exciting news with the rest of the staff at school. They are over the top wonderful and I can't imagine working with a better group of people. Beth printed this sign and hung it in the library where our faculty meeting was after school. She had a whole table set up with pink and blue candy for people to take as they came in. (jelly beans, mints, gum balls, m&m's) Then, knowing I didn't want to be the center of attention, we all walked in looking like this....
The staff quickly figured out that I was the only one pregnant! :) Beth also made this hilarious video to show to the staff, make sure you watch it all the way to the end and notice all the hand motions as well.
Pink and Blue Video
As far as pregnant life, things are pretty good. I have my battles with my emotions, but there is a lot going on between school and Joe's work. Hopefully once we start to make some decisions, which should be any day now, my emotions will level out. My belly is growing and my pants no longer fit!!! It is crazy how much the little one has grown in the past few weeks. Now the size of a peach, I'm anxious for the day when we can find out the sex, and feel it moving around in there. Right now the baby is in a routine of listening to music for about 30 minutes each evenings, mostly Enya and James Taylor right now. Trying to keep things calm on the new baby ears before we break into the Rock N Roll! :)

12 Weeks and Pickles
Well today is a big day for us, the "end" of the first trimester! What a start to this crazy adventure! We went to the doctor yesterday and the ultrasound technician was very pleased with how quickly the bleeding around my sac has gone away. She said it was "remarkable progress in just 4 weeks." This was such a relief to hear as it was always in the back of my mind as something that was "wrong with me."
As soon as she put the ultrasound wand to my belly I couldn't believe how much our little monster has grown! The thing is huge now! We are calling it a he a lot, I don't know if that is a sign or because it just feels more humane that calling it an it! :) We do not know the sex right now and will have to wait until we are about 20 weeks to find out! Our monster was certainly a mover and a shaker yesterday during our ultrasound. It was bending it's knees and kicking it's legs and waving it's arms all over the place. Rolling around in there, not sure how there is enough space for all that movement, but wow! We clocked in another strong heart rate of 171, which is also great news! Here are the pictures we got yesterday, a lot of them are blurry because the bugger kept moving around. (I hope that's not an indication of what it's going to be like to take it's picture in the future, because this mommy is a camera freak!)
That is the arm and hand waving to us! Blurry of course because it was flailing around in there like a crazy person!
3D/4D pictures were pretty cool. The U/S tech was trying to wait until the little one turned around to get a good picture of the face, but it was moving around too much. But here you can see the arms and legs really well.
You can see the knee bent up above the belly and then the leg and foot stretched out! It's crazy!
We kept laughing at this pictures because we said it was stretching it's legs out to get more space in there!
Ok, and now I have to confess, I bought my first jar of pregnancy pickles when I was grocery shopping the other day! This week has been a little stressful and I am finally starting to get my appetite back but I am hungry for very specific things. For example: colby jack cheese, pickles, fruit punch, oranges, and pop-tarts. While I have not opened this jar of pickles, because the cheese was more important when I got home from the store, it is reassuring to know that they are chilled and ready to go whenever I need one! :)
Still on the car hunt! And then to top it all off, Joe's company is restructuring. They are moving to a different model of business so this week a guy from PA came down to work with him and to let him know what his position would look like now. Everything went really great and Joe felt really good about the outlook of things. Then... last night his new boss in PA called and offered him a position in the PA office. We don't really know all the details of it yet, but it is just one more thing to think about. We have been talking a lot lately about moving back to PA to be closer to family but we were thinking sometime in the next 2 years or so, once baby was here and a little older. But man, to just go now, would be CRAZY! There are so many questions and Joe needs to talk more to his boss about everything, but keep us in your prayers as we have some big decisions to make in the near future.

11 Weeks and Back to Work
Well, week 11 went fast and wore me out! Back to school after a nice long 2 week Christmas vacation, especially with my minimal energy levels, was taxing. Prior to break I had a student teacher that was doing most of the teaching, so I had to jump back into it pretty quick. I have been feeling pretty good but continue to get really sleep around 6:30 and start to feel yucky around 7. So I usually just try and cave and get to bed as early as possible. (Mostly trying to avoid the sickness.)
My belly continues to grow and despite the slew of maternity pants I now have in my closet, I'm trying to wear all of my "normal" clothes. Usually by lunch time, the button needs to be undone and the hair tie put in place! Lucky for me, my students don't notice the growing belly! However, people at working are starting to look at my funny! I will have to spill the beans soon, would just like to wait until after our doctor's appointment this Friday!
Along with the growing belly and new wardrobe, we have come to realize that getting a car seat in and out of my Xterra is going to be a less than desirable everyday event. (Thanks to our wonderful neighbors, we had an infant car seat to try!) So this weekend we were looking at new vehicles that are going to be a little more Mom friendly. (My Xterra has stadium rear seating, meaning that they are very high, and a narrow door way due to the rear wheel well.) We checked out 3 SUV's this weekend (must be an SUV because I like to sit up higher.)
1. The Nissan Pathfinder: Love the look on the outside and just the right height to put a car seat in. It drives just like my Xterra, so it would be very easy to adjust to. It has a third row option so there is plenty of room to grow. All in all, great car, but pricey!
2. The Honda Pilot: Wonderful interior features, and top of the line in safety. Very easy to get a car seat in, while still allowing plenty of leg space for a passenger up front. Optional third row. Drives AMAZING!!!!! Such a smooth ride and so easy to handle! Only downfall is I'm not all that attracted to the outside. However the one that I drove was not a very nice color. We are hoping to find a black one to check out to see if that changes the appeal of the exterior.
3. The Toyota 4 Runner: LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this SUV!!! Amazing exterior and interior and drives wonderful too. However, the rear seats are just as high as that in the Xterra which totally disregards the whole point of getting a new car! (Major bummer on this one, because we probably would have drove away with one!)
For now we are leaning more towards the Pilot, but we will see.

Baby Heartbeat!
10 weeks, 2 days
We recently bought an at home Fetal Doppler to hear the heartbeat at home. I tried it the day that I got it of course, but couldn't find it. I have been doing some research on where to look and tips for using them and here I was not looking in the right spot at at all! We found baby Schieck tonight! Here is a video of the heartbeat. It is really blurry because my too expensive camera wouldn't focus, but it is still music to my ears! The beat was strong up to 180 beats per minute! There are some other placenta noises in there, but you can't mistake the steady beat of our little one! Super happy!

10 Weeks, Happy New Year!
Wowzers on the 10 weeks! I can't believe we are already 1/4 of the way there. I'm slowly getting my appetite back and have a little more energy. (Although not much m)ore Last night to ring in the new year, we went to the neighbors to celebrate! They were very excited to hear the news of Baby Schieck. I'm a little nervous to go back to school tomorrow and about having enough energy to get through a full day of teaching. I had a student teacher prior to Christmas break and she was doing all the teaching for the first few weeks of my pregnancy. Hopefully, like all the books say, my second trimester will bring some more energy. I certainly will be heading to bed early and taking some naps after school. 2012 certainly is going to have it's share of adventure! We are super excited and so far from ready! We will be letting everyone know when it's time to paint the nursery, all visitors will be welcome! Bagel Bites on me! (they are my current craving)

Right before Christmas I made my first baby purchase. I saw this and just couldn't resist, sorry Daddy Schieck! I can't wait to have 2 tiny feet at home to fill them! :) I'm sure this baby will be well equipped with Steeler's get up and if Dad is lucky, maybe some Eagles. (Even though this little on will be a Steeler's fan through and through! )
