Wishes for Millie Raine

At our baby shower we had our friends and family fill out cards with their wishes for Baby Millie on them.  However, I wanted to extend the opportunity to those that couldn't be with us at the shower or maybe forgot to fill one out at the shower.  We are putting these all in an album for her to have when she is older.  It is really coming together nicely and will be a wonderful treasure for her to have one day!

If you would like to send your wishes to Millie just click the link below and complete the 10 sentences and hit submit.  :)  We would love to add your wishes to Millie's book!

Thanks so much!
Wishes for Millie Raine

36 weeks and feelin' it!

Well 36 weeks down, hopefully only 4 more to go!  I just can't get over how quickly all of this has gone by.  I hope that these next 4 weeks go just as fast.  I hope to keep myself busy enough that I'm not dwelling on how uncomfortable I am, my fat ankles, my swollen fingers, my sleepless night, my endless bathroom trips, and my need for afternoon naps!  All normal things that assure me, I'm progressing along, just as any other pregnant woman would!

When we went to the doctor this week I had my first internal check, not very pleasant but I guess I might as well just get used to someone digging around in there!  She said that I was thinning and was 1.5 cm dilated.  When I asked her what exactly that meant as far as timing and my due date she said, "That means you could have the baby tonight, or in 4 weeks!"  She clearly doesn't know how anal retentive I am about planning things!  :)  She said Millie was in the right position, sounding good, and my body was doing all the things it needed to do.  All good news to me!

Our lives are going to change so much in the next few weeks and we are so excited!  :)  Can't wait to meet my baby girl.

35 weeks and a Princess Suite!

Well here is the long awaited tour of the Princess Suite on Timberline Drive!  It surely makes all of this even more real, looking at a nursery that is ready for baby!  We absolutely love each and every part of it!  We still plan to pick an owl from the many that my grandmother Mildred has collected, to add to her room.  The final touch will be little Millie herself!  Enjoy the pictures!

34 Weeks, Father's Day, and a Sneak Peak

So we continue to work our way through this "40 week" adventure, which I guess is just the beginning of our lifetime adventure.  Saying that we only have 6 weeks left pretty much freaks me out and forces me to get done the things that need to be done.  The nursery is coming along nicely, I'm going to hold off on the pictures of it until we have everything just how we want it.  Hopefully by this time next week, you will get the full tour of the princess suite!  :)

We went to the doctor on Thursday of last week and my OB was a little concerned that my belly measurement had not changed much in the past 4-6 weeks.  I feel like I have gone from a sweet baby doll watermelon to one of the huge ones that feeds everyone at the picnic.  However, she wanted to take precautions and sent me to have an ultrasound (fully anatomy scan, same as what they do at typical 20 week appointments).  We couldn't get an appointment until today, but everything came back looking great!  They said she was growing just fine and weighs about 5 pounds and 2 ounces and that if I go full term she is on track to be a healthy 7 pounder!  YIKES!  We didn't think we were going to get to "see" her again until her birthday, so these was a really nice treat to remind us of the joy that will come once this is all done!  She pretty much looks like an alien, but an alien princess in our book. :)

She wasn't very active during the ultrasound and had her hands up around her face so it was hard to get a full shot of her face.  We did have the ultrasound tech and the doc double check to make sure she was still a girl, and she is!  :)  Not looking for that kind of surprise in the next 6 weeks!

We can't forget that Josiah had his first father's day this weekend as well.  We didn't do a ton to celebrate but I did get him a little father's day "tool" belt.  I picked up a tool belt at the hardware store, but instead of filling it with tools, I filled it with "Daddy Tools."  Some of the items were: boogie wipes, butt paste, baby powder, nuks, diapers, rattles, etc.  Here is a picture of the soon to be daddy sporting his new tool belt.

33 weeks, Millie Invasion

I think it is safe to say that we have been taken over by a Millie Invasion.  No not alien, Millie!  Her things made their way out of our living room slowly over the last two weeks, but now seem like they have taken over every corner of the house!  I guess that's what to expect when a new life is about to join us.  Gosh, babies have STUFF!!!! I continue to slowly feel like I am more ready to have this baby, not physically of course, but ready around the house!  It is overwhelming to feel like you have a ton to do, but have little energy to get it done.  I think the third trimester fatigue is setting in. (Not at a very convenient time!) Here are a few pictures of the invasion.

Our doctor visits continue to be every other week and everything seems to be progressing as should be.  I always try, in the time between visits, to come up with some questions to ask the doc but I just never know what to ask.  All the doctors that I have seen have been really pleased with my health and size and Millie's heartbeat and reassure me that all looks well.  What questions should I be asking?  Any suggestions?  I guess at this point we need to make sure she is in position which they can do just by feeling my belly!  Kind of crazy.  (I like to assume I know which part of her body is trying to poke through, but who knows if I'm right or not!)  :)

We are working hard at talking to the dogs about the upcoming new addition.  I wrapped a teddy bear up in one of the receiving blankets and put tons of baby powder on it and carry it around the house.  The dogs love to sniff it and are very curious as to what is inside.  We put the wrapped up "baby" in the rocker, the bouncer seat, the car seat and on the floor and the dogs a very willing to guard her as she is in each location.  I have read a lot about bring a baby into a home with dogs, so hopefully some of these little tricks will help out.  Here is a picture of Edison snuggling with his "baby sister."  :)  He was lying down and I set the "baby" next to him and he didn't move an inch as if he knew he had to be careful with the wrapped package.  He just keep looking at me wanting reassurance that he was doing the right thing.

31 and 32 weeks, a spoiled little girl!

Well time is going so quick and I feel that I have 1 million things to do!!!   I'm not sure if this is part of the nesting stage, the panic stage, the anxiety stage, or just the freaking out stage!!!  My baby girl is going to be here in just 7 short weeks, or less!!!!  YIKES!!!  Never mind facing labor and delivery, this house is not ready for an infant just yet!

We were so blessed this last weekend by many friends and family at our Baby BBQ.  This little girl will not go without that is for sure!  Her goodies packed my car and flooded our living room.  It was like Christmas at our house!  So many things to go through and put together and set up.  We have been working on things a little each night slowly making a dent in the surplus of items.  It is overwhelming to think about all the stuff that a baby needs but the most important is the love and support from everyone there on Sunday.  A special thanks to all our friends that came up from VA to help us celebrate Millie.  We certainly hope that we see you again in July/August when our precious little girl is here. As part of our shower celebration we had friends and family write out wishes for Millie that I'm going to put in a photo album for her to keep.  There were some very touching and funny wishes and I wanted to share a few with you...

"I hope you get brothers and sisters."
"I hope you grow up and have an amazing friendship with your mom!"
"I hope you get your mom's sense of humor."
"I hope you learn to be potty trained easily."
"I hope you grow tall and slim."
"I hope you learn your math."
"I hope you grow into a beautiful woman."
"I hope you ignore stupid people."
"I hope you never forget that you can make a change in this world."
"I hope you get blonde curls and blue eyes."
"I hope you love The Steelers"
"I hope you become a wonderful woman like your mamma!!!!"
"I hope you love to snuggle."
"I hope you ignore the bullies."
"I hope you learn to be an individual."
"I hope you ignore temptations."
"I hope you become comfortable with who you are."
"I hope you become a godly woman."
"I hope you laugh at your Mommy and Daddy- they really are funny!"
"I hope you get to play at the creek that your Mom and I loved when we were little."
"I hope you respect how many times Mom and Dad are going to change your diaper."

Well Joe is outside spray painting a lamp for Millie's room and her dresser is waiting to be put together, so I should probably go help.  One step closer to being all ready for Little Millie Raine!  :)  Can't wait to have her in my arms!  Here are a few pictures from the shower.
